RénoPlex: Renovation subsidies for buildings with 1 to 5 dwellings

Are you the owner of a building having 1 to 5 dwelling units in Montréal who would like to apply for financial support for renovations or for flood protection work on your property? This program may help you pay for your work if you meet the criteria.

Current

Eligibility criteria

Individuals, corporations, cooperatives and non profit housing organisations who own a building having between 1 and 5 dwelling units can follow the steps below to determine if their application is eligible under the grant program.

Step 1: Calculate property value by square metre

To determine if your application is receivable, calculate your building’s property value per square meter.

The value must be less than or equal to $3,476 $/m2 to qualify for Blocks 1 to 3. If the building has 2 dwellings or more, its value must be lass than or equal to the low valuation threshold to qualify for Block 2.

Step 2: Determine the eligibility category

Using the table below, determine which Block your work could qualify for.

Step 3: Determine grant amounts per type of work

Check the grant amounts you may be eligible for, based on the appropriate Block for your work.

Step 4: Check the program’s technical requirements

You must comply with program requirements and technical criteria described under the Program Guide for your renovation work to be eligible for the subsidy. For instance, flat roofs must be renewed using a white membrane. Once an application has been approved, we will inform you of all requirements applicable to your type of work.

Current

Application and beginning of work

You must submit an application using the online form. Attach all required documents listed in the RénoPlex program guide.

When submitting an application, you agree to comply with requirements in order to maintain your rights to the grant.

You have 18 months to carry out the work, starting on the day you receive your conditional approval.

You must apply for the required permits to be issued by your borough.

The city will notify tenants when a subsidy is granted for work in their building. All subsidies you will receive as the owner, regardless of their source, must be deducted from the total cost of work when calculating the rent for each dwelling.
