Public works and major projects

Last updated December 22, 2021

Montréal is responsible for only 30% of the construction projects taking place within its territory. The purpose of all this work is to provide the population with a quality road network, sustainable water and sewer systems and an enjoyable neighbourhood.

A new bike path, park improvements and maintenance of street and traffic lights are examples of projects we do manage. Some of them last only one day, while others must be planned in phases and stretched over time.

The city strives to minimize the impact of public works on residents’ daily lives. There are many ways you can track the progress of works in your district.

Work in Progress Notices

We distribute notices of works to residents and businesses near construction sites. For work that affects the water system, we also send out water interruption notices. Subscribe to the Notices and Alerts service to receive information by email or text message about various construction sites.
