If you see a dead pet or wild animal on your property, here is how to report it.

In Quebec, it’s illegal to bury an animal in your yard or in any other unauthorized place. The law allows for dead animals to be placed in a closed plastic bag and put out for household garbage pickups.

If the dead animal is a wild animal, visit the government of Québec’s Web site to find out which species need to be declared. If the dead animal is a coyote, you must report it to the city. 

If it’s your pet, you then have 15 days to cancel your cat or dog license.
