Cats
Licenses, spaying/neutering and microchipping: Cat owners must comply with Montréal by-laws. Find everything you need to know about pet licenses and cat-related by-laws.
Licenses and tags
Do you live in Montréal and own a cat? You must get a license for your cat and renew it every year before it expires. You will receive a tag along with your license.
You can have up to 8 pets, including a combined maximum of 4 cats and dogs (for example: 3 cats and 1 dog).
Spaying/neutering and microchipping
Cats six months and older must be spayed or neutered and microchipped.
Has a colony of cats settled into your neighborhood? Join the Trap-Neuter-Release-Maintain program to spay or neuter street cats and improve their living conditions.
Lost, injured or deceased cats
Did you find a stray, injured or dead cat? Find out what to do.
