Has your recycling bin gone missing? Are you moving and unable to find the bin for your new address? Learn how to get a new bin.
The recycling bin is used to collect recyclable materials. It is provided free of charge, with some exceptions. A fee applies to get some bins in Saint-Laurent and l’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève, for example.
Important: If you need a new recycling bin to replace a broken one, check first if your bin can be repaired.

The 360-litre bins are on order. They will be delivered to the borough in a few weeks. Until we receive them, if you don’t already have a bin, you can put your recyclables in a large clear plastic bag.

You are entitled to one 360-litre bin per address or building after your application is assessed and depending on available supply.
Each additional bin costs $75 (non-taxable). Only one bin at a time can be collected per week.

You are entitled to one bin per single-family home or duplex. For buildings with three or more dwellings, a bin is provided for each group of three dwellings.
Organizations
Non-profit organizations (NPO), hospitals and schools are entitled to one 360-litre wheeled bin per address or building, subject to an agreement with the Accès Montréal office.
Businesses and companies must purchase a 360-litre wheeled bin in store. Check that the bin has a “European” grip, as it is the only one that is compatible with the lift systems on city trucks.

Only the non-profit organizations (NPO) and community centres are entitled to these bins.
No bin will be supplied to schools, businesses and companies.
They must place their recyclable materials:
- In a 50- to 150-litre transparent plastic bin, closed, weighing no more than 25 kg when full.
- In a store-bought 360-litre green wheeled bin with a “European grip.” The European grip is the only one that is compatible with the lift systems on city trucks.

Only the tenants in and owners of the dwelling they occupy can request a 67-litre bin.
To get this bin quickly:
- Go in person to the Accès Montréal office with proof of residence (hydro bill, tax account), or
- Contact your éco-quartier to find out if the bins are available, then go there in person with a proof of residence (hydro bill, tax account).
Large bin
Only the owners of a residential building (and the representatives of an organization entitled to a bin) can request a 360-litre bin.
To get a wheeled bin:
- Contact your éco-quartier, or
- Contact 311
