Recycling bins are the city’s property. Each bin is linked to an address. When you move, don’t take your bin with you, leave it for the next occupant.

Lost or stolen bin
If your bin is lost or stolen, you can request a new one. It will be delivered at your home.
Damaged bin
This model cannot be repaired by the borough. If your bin is broken, ask that it be replaced.
If you want the broken bin picked up when your new bin is delivered it, just mention it in your service request.
360-litre wheeled bin (green)
Lost or stolen bin
If your bin is lost or stolen, you can request a new one. It will be delivered at your home.
Damaged bin

- You live in a residential building with eight or fewer dwellings.
- You run a non-profit organization (NPO) or a community centre.
New bin
If you move and there is no bin at your new address, you can request a new one.

If your bin is lost or stolen, you can request a new one.
Damaged bin
The 67-litre model cannot be repaired by the borough. You can request a new bin (and bring your broken bin with you when you go to collect your new bin).
How to request a new 67-litre bin
- Go to the Accès Montréal office with a proof of residence (hydro bill, etc.).
- Contact your éco-quartier by telephone to find out whether the bins are in stock, then go there in person with your proof of residence.
Wheeled bin (240 litres or 360 litres)
You can use these bin sizes if:
- You live in a residential building, regardless of the number of dwellings it has.
- You operate a business, a company, a non-profit organization (NPO) or a school.
New bin
If you move and there is no bin at your new address, you can request a new one.
Lost or stolen bin
If your bin is lost or stolen, you can request a new one.
If it was stolen, you must fill out an online police report.
Damaged bin
Your bin will be repaired at your home within 10 business days if one of the following parts is broken:

If your bin can’t be repaired, you can request a new one.
To have a bin repaired or replaced, you must have the serial number (written on the side of the bin) at hand before contacting us. We will not be able to process your request without the serial number.
Clean your old bin, turn it upside down, and put it in your front yard next to the wall and away from the curb, until it is replaced. It will be picked up and recycled.

Buildings with nine or more dwellings, non-profits, schools and hospitals
Bins with a capacity of 360 litres for recycling collections are delivered.
Buildings with eight or fewer dwellings, small businesses and small offices
Items must be placed in a clear plastic bag.
Exception: 67-litre recycling bins are provided in the sector located between rue Papineau (east side only), Mont-Royal (north side only), Iberville (west side only) and the railway line. These bins replace single-use plastic bags.

360-litre wheeled bin
You can use a bin of this size if you live in a residential building with six or more dwellings.

Home and business owners are not eligible for a 67 litre bin.
Lost or stolen bin
If your bin is lost or stolen, there are two ways you can request a new one:
- Go to your Éco-quartier office with a proof of address.
- Go to your Accès Montréal office with a proof of address.
You will get your bin immediately.
Damaged bin
This model is not eligible for repair service. In case of breakage:
- Visit your local Éco-quartier to exchange it for a bin in good condition.
Wheeled 360-litre bin
You must be a homeowner to obtain a bin.
We do not supply 360-litre rolling bins to stores, businesses and institutions. If you represent this type of organization, you can place your recyclable materials:
- In a 50- to 150-litre transparent plastic bin, closed, weighing no more than 25 kg when full.
- In a store-bought 360-litre green rolling bin with a “European grip.”
Cardboard boxes that are too bulky to be placed in a bin must be flattened and attached into bales measuring no more than 1 m, not exceeding a volume of 0.5 m3, and weighing no more than 25 kg.
Lost or stolen bin
If your bin is lost or stolen, there are three ways you can request a new one:
- Go to your local Éco-quartier
- Visit your Accès Montréal office
- Call 311.
A request will be made for you and your bin will be delivered three weeks later.
Damaged bin
Your bin will be repaired at your home within 3 weeks if one of the following parts is broken:
- Cap and rod for the lid
- Lid
- Axle
- Wheel
If your bin can’t be repaired:
- Go to your local Éco-quartier with a proof of address to exchange it for a bin in good condition.
- Call 311. A request will be forwarded to the éco-quartier to schedule the delivery of another bin and the pick-up of the broken bin.
