Montréal is a biking city with a vast network of paths that can take you all over the city, through parks and along the river.
In the summer, any time is a great time to hop on a bike. You can explore the island with your family or friends and enjoy riding through Montréal’s nature parks.
You can also use the Express Bike Network (EBN) to get around the city more quickly. This network is specifically designed to make biking fun, appealing and accessible all year round. Neighbourhood cycle paths connect into the EBN, making it the backbone of Montréal’s cycling network.
You can still use a bike in the winter, as long as you have the right equipment and clothing. A good number of cycling paths are cleared of snow at the same time as the street is, or shortly thereafter. A biking map shows which paths can be used 12 months of the year.
The bike plan aims to plan and design the network of bike paths. It illustrates the existing network and identifies potential links to be developed. The plan is updated every four years or so.
